2005 Season - Week 14

Going Down To The Wire

With just three weeks left 10 play-off positions are still up for grabs. Only Seattle and Indianapolis have clinched postseason spots while 16 other teams are still in the hunt. Going Down To The Wire With just three weeks left the Papas Fritas Championship and promotion spots are still up for grabs. Aaron has moved back passed Paul into the final promotion spot while it seems John and David S will be replacing Dave G and Ron in the Big League. The final place in the drop-zone looks to be between 2 of the 4 BUMS who have yet to play in the Conference (Wayne or Marcus). But the key battle is the chase for the Papas Fritas Trophy. AP has moved into Pole Position after outscoring Mark by 28 points this week, but 28 points is the difference between AP in first and Chief in fifth. This is the closest the chase has been this late, since 2000 when Paul, Andy H, Cheryl and Johnny were separated by 19 points. In the end Mark came from 34 points back and down in seventh place to win the trophy with 132 points in the last 3 weeks. Bargain Boys Bust Out Big Congratulations to John whose $4million team moved into the lead in the Conference after putting up a Hall of Fame 61 points this weekend. It’s the second time John has been in the Hall – he put up 67 points back in week 14 of 2002. Team Nicknames More good news for John, as his proposal that we all have nicknames for our teams was carried unanimously. I’ll ask for your team names for 2006 when you provide your franchise players before next season. Paul Ponders Thanks to Paul for covering for last weeks lack of newsletter with his Dynasty piece, I’d still like to hear a few more views on this one. BUMS on Seats. We will be at BUMS HQ from 6:30pm on Saturday to see 2 key games featuring 4 play-off contenders as Tampa Bay (1st in the NFC South) travel to New England (1st in the AFC East) followed by Kansas City (8-5) at NY Giants (1st in the NFC East). Then on Sunday we are back at HQ from 6pm to see if Indianapolis can continue their quest for perfection as they host the 8-5 San Diego Chargers followed by a battle of the other 2 NFC East play-off contenders Dallas (8-5) at Washington (7-6).
